Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to drive the design and development of complex hardware and IoT-based products. In this role, you will lead the mechanical design team, ensuring fast and high-quality execution, and deliver production-ready products that meet industrial standards and certifications. You will play a crucial part in the end-to-end product realization, building reliable, certified, and scalable solutions for real-world applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and guide the mechanical design team to ensure efficient execution and timely delivery.
- Drive end-to-end product realization from concept to production for hardware and IoT devices.
- Establish and improve design workflows and processes to increase speed and efficiency.
- Conduct thorough design reviews, identify risks, and solve complex engineering challenges.
- Review and validate 2D drawings and detailed mechanical documentation.
- Perform DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and ensure production feasibility, working on plastic injection molding, sheet metal design, and die casting for production-ready components.
- Design IP67/IP68-rated enclosures, ensuring maximum durability and sealing performance.
- Support and manage product certification processes (ATEX, CE, ISO, etc.).
- Collaborate closely with industrial design, electronics, and firmware teams.
- Manage vendor coordination, material sourcing, and interactions with manufacturing partners.
- Conduct patent studies and maintain Freedom to Operate (FTO) awareness during design development.
- Identify opportunities for innovation in design, usability, and manufacturing, while staying updated with industry trends, materials, and emerging technologies.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Product Design, or a related field.
- Possess 8 to 10 years of strong experience in mechanical product design for hardware devices.
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of injection molding, sheet metal, and modern manufacturing processes.
- Bring proven experience in designing rugged, outdoor, or industrial products (specifically IP-rated enclosures).
- Show strong understanding of DFM, DFA, tolerancing, and material selection.
- Exhibit hands-on experience with SolidWorks (or similar CAD tools) and the ability to review and create detailed engineering drawings (2D & 3D).
- Have familiarity with ATEX, CE, and ISO certification standards, along with knowledge of patents and design validation processes.
- Display visionary leadership with the ability to guide the team strategically and convey design ideas clearly across multidisciplinary teams.
- Be a highly proactive, self-driven problem solver with a user-centric mindset and strong attention to detail.
- Experience in IoT, environmental monitoring, or industrial equipment, as well as simulation knowledge (thermal, structural), is considered a strong plus.
