Storage Administrator

Responsibilities:
Administration & Maintenance:
  • Manage day-to-day administration of SAN and storage environments.
  • Perform system-level maintenance and ensure all infrastructure is up-to-date.
  • Handle storage allocations to server infrastructure and perform necessary host-level tasks.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, procedures, and reports for storage infrastructure.
Capacity & Performance Management:
  • Monitor and analyze storage and SAN switch capacity and performance data.
  • Track storage usage trends, perform capacity planning for future growth, and provide remediation recommendations.
  • Oversee the design, installation, configuration, and de-provisioning of storage solutions.
Troubleshooting & Incident Resolution:
  • Collaborate with customer support teams and participate in problem-solving and troubleshooting activities.
  • Diagnose, resolve, and document problems, including performing root cause analysis for incident records.
  • Execute storage infrastructure maintenance in line with best practices and change management policies.
Recovery & Replication:
  • Provide and manage disaster recovery solutions for SAN storage.
  • Develop and maintain a library of disaster recovery procedures.
  • Oversee business resumption testing and data integrity checks.
  • Manage data movement and replication processes.
Automation & Scripting:
  • Automate routine administrative tasks using scripting languages like Bash and PowerShell to improve efficiency.
  • Administer Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) and Windows OS environments, configuring file systems (ext4, NTFS, NFS, CIFS) for storage management appliances like Hitachi OpsCenter and Cisco DCNM.
Mentorship & Collaboration:
  • Mentor and train junior administrators.
  • Interface with Hitachi storage engineers to manage the implementation of new storage infrastructure and services.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in storage administration.
  • Proficiency in Hitachi Block Storage (VSP 5000) and Cisco/Brocade SAN Directors and Switches.
  • Hands-on experience with Hitachi OpsCenter Administrator & Analyzer and Cisco NDFC or DCNM.
  • Expertise in Hitachi in-system replication (Shadow Image and Thin Image) and remote replication (True Copy & Universal Replicator).
  • Strong scripting skills in Bash and PowerShell.
  • Experience with Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) and Windows OS administration.
  • Deep understanding of file systems such as ext4, NTFS, NFS, and CIFS.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
