We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient L3 Storage Administrator to manage and optimize enterprise storage infrastructure, focusing heavily on Hitachi Vantara technologies and Cisco Director-class SAN switches. The ideal candidate will be an escalation point, providing advanced troubleshooting, performance analysis, and system design expertise. This role requires strong customer-facing skills to collaborate with L2 teams, present value-added performance and capacity reports, and drive operational efficiency through automation.
Responsibilities:
- Hitachi Storage Administration: Manage the end-to-end operation of the Hitachi SAN and storage infrastructure (VSP, Ops Center, Command Suite), ensuring high performance, availability, and resilience.
- Replication and Data Protection: Configure, support, and troubleshoot Hitachi remote replication solutions (e.g., TrueCopy, Universal Replicator, ShadowImage).
- Performance and Capacity Management: Conduct in-depth performance analysis, tuning, and capacity trending across the entire storage and SAN environment. Prepare and present value-added reports on utilization, health, and optimization metrics.
- SAN Fabric Management: Monitor, manage, and configure Cisco MDS Director-class SAN switches, including zoning, fabric management, and DCNM administration.
- Technical Leadership and Support: Serve as an escalation point for customer L2 teams, providing technical guidance, performing root cause analysis, and applying permanent fixes to complex incidents and problems.
- System Design and Documentation: Design, document, and implement storage allocation strategies, workflow improvements, and configuration best practices in compliance with ITIL standards.
- Disaster Recovery (DR): Lead DR planning, testing, and documentation, ensuring replication is functional and data integrity is validated.
- Automation and Scripting: Implement automation solutions for operational efficiency using scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- OS and File System Integration: Administer storage integration across Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) and Windows environments, managing file systems (ext4, NTFS) and protocols (NFS/CIFS).
- Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior administrators to enhance the team’s overall technical capability.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise storage administration, with a strong focus on Hitachi Vantara platforms (VSP family).
- Expert proficiency in Hitachi storage and replication technologies (e.g., TrueCopy, Universal Replicator) and management tools (Ops Center, Command Suite).
- Proven expertise in storage performance analysis, tuning, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Deep knowledge of Cisco MDS Director-class SAN switches (zoning, fabric management, DCNM).
- Comprehensive understanding of SAN/NAS design, data protection, DR, and backup integration.
- Extensive experience with capacity planning, utilization forecasting, and professional reporting.
- Familiarity with automation and scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python) to drive operational improvements.
- Good understanding of Linux and Windows OS file systems and storage protocols (NFS/CIFS).
- Exceptional communication, documentation, and presentation skills with demonstrated customer-facing experience.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hitachi Vantara certifications (HCSA/HCP/Storage Administration or equivalent) preferred.
- Cisco SAN or Brocade certification is desirable.
