UV Plant Manager

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced UV Plant Manager to lead end-to-end UV coating and curing operations for plastic and glass components used in premium cosmetic and perfume packaging. This role is responsible for managing production, ensuring superior surface finish and colour consistency, maintaining strict quality and safety standards, and driving efficiency across UV lacquering and curing processes.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations Management

• Manage day-to-day operations of the UV coating and curing plant
• Plan and execute production schedules based on order volumes and delivery timelines
• Ensure optimal utilization of coating lines, curing units, machines, and manpower
• Monitor output, cycle times, and batch completion to meet production targets

Technical & Process Management

• Oversee UV coating line setup, parameter settings, viscosity control, and spray application
• Ensure smooth functioning of UV ovens, conveyors, spray guns/robots, and exhaust systems
• Troubleshoot issues such as uneven coating, colour mismatch, pinholes, dust contamination, adhesion failure, and curing defects
• Continuously improve coating quality and optimize process parameters to reduce rejections

Quality Control & Surface Finish Standards

• Maintain high-quality UV coating standards required for cosmetic and perfume packaging
• Ensure consistency in gloss, shade, adhesion, and surface finish as per specifications
• Coordinate with QC teams for in-process checks and final inspections
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions

Safety, Cleanliness & Contamination Control

• Maintain dust-free and controlled working environments in the UV plant
• Enforce safety protocols for chemicals, solvents, and UV equipment
• Ensure compliance with 5S, GMP, and hygiene standards
• Conduct regular audits for safety, housekeeping, and equipment condition

Manpower Management & Team Leadership

• Lead and supervise operators, technicians, and helpers
• Conduct training on UV coating techniques, safety handling, quality awareness, and machine operation
• Plan shifts, allocate manpower, and monitor operator productivity
• Maintain discipline, motivation, and teamwork on the shop floor

Material, Inventory & Cost Control

• Monitor consumption of UV chemicals, primers, solvents, thinners, and consumables
• Ensure proper storage, handling, and inventory levels of coating materials
• Minimize wastage through controlled mixing, application, and process discipline
• Raise purchase requests aligned with production plans

Maintenance Coordination

• Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance with the maintenance team
• Monitor UV lamp life, spray guns, conveyors, booths, and dust extraction systems
• Maintain machine and maintenance performance logbooks
• Ensure all critical equipment remains in ready-to-run condition

Reporting & Cross-Functional Coordination

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on production, rejections, and efficiency
• Coordinate with moulding, QC, planning, and dispatch teams for smooth operations
• Support audits, customer visits, and inspections
• Assist in new colour trials, coating development, and sample approvals

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Production, Chemical, or related engineering discipline
• 7+ years of experience in UV coating and curing plant operations
• Prior experience in cosmetic, perfume, beauty products, or packaging industries preferred
• Strong knowledge of UV coating processes, curing systems, and spray painting techniques
• Expertise in surface preparation, adhesion control, colour matching, and gloss consistency
• Ability to analyze and resolve defects such as fish-eye, dust inclusion, orange peel, shade variation, uneven coating, and poor adhesion
• Strong leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of ISO and GMP quality standards
