QC / R&D Head

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced QC / R&D Head to lead all quality control operations and product development initiatives at the factory. This role is responsible for ensuring product quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement, while also driving formulation development and innovation. The position requires strong technical expertise, leadership ability, and close collaboration with production and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

QC Operations Management

• Oversee all quality control activities including raw material inspection, in-process checks, and final product testing
• Ensure adherence to quality standards, SOPs, and testing protocols
• Develop and maintain QC documentation, records, and reporting systems

R&D & Product Development

• Lead formulation development, sample creation, and improvement of existing products
• Drive new product development (NPD) based on market and management requirements
• Test and evaluate raw materials, fragrances, and packaging compatibility
• Maintain lab records, formulation documents, and test reports

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with regulatory, statutory, and industry quality requirements
• Establish and implement QA systems, procedures, and guidelines across the factory
• Coordinate with external laboratories for certifications, testing, and compliance

Team Leadership

• Lead, train, and supervise QC and R&D teams including chemists and lab technicians
• Assign daily tasks, review performance, and ensure timely testing and reporting
• Build a culture focused on accuracy, discipline, and continuous improvement

Process Improvement & Root Cause Analysis

• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for quality failures and customer complaints
• Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
• Work closely with production teams to minimize defects and process issues

Raw Material & Supplier Quality

• Approve new raw materials, chemicals, and packaging components after evaluation
• Coordinate with procurement and suppliers on quality-related concerns
• Ensure all incoming materials meet specifications before release

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain QC reports, batch records, COAs, test logs, and audit documentation
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality performance reports
• Ensure full traceability of materials and finished goods

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Dispatch teams
• Provide technical guidance during manufacturing and issue resolution
• Participate in internal audits and customer audits

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
• 5–10+ years of experience in QC and R&D within manufacturing environments
• Experience in FMCG, fragrance, cosmetics, chemicals, or similar industries preferred
• Strong knowledge of lab testing methods, formulations, and QC instruments
• Hands-on experience with quality systems, documentation, and audits
• Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage teams and operate effectively in a fast-paced factory environment
