Senior Accountant / Controller

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant / Controller to work closely with senior finance leadership across management company accounting, financial reporting, controls, and special projects. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is technically strong, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of accounting and finance matters from start to finish.

The ideal candidate will be able to manage core accounting activities independently, strengthen existing processes, introduce practical automation, and support a broad range of finance and reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own day-to-day accounting and controllership activities for the management company.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, schedules, and management reports.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow analysis, audit, and tax processes.
  • Maintain strong accounting controls and ensure books and records remain accurate and up to date.
  • Improve accounting processes, reporting, and workflows, and automate manual activities where practical.
  • Support senior finance leadership with financial analysis, special projects, and ad hoc requirements.
  • Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, fund administrators, and other external service providers.
  • Review the work of junior or outsourced accounting staff where required while remaining directly involved in execution.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (India) strongly preferred; CPA or an equivalent professional qualification is also relevant.
  • Ideally 7–10 years of relevant experience, preferably within hedge funds, asset management, investment management, or U.S.-focused accounting.
  • Strong hands-on experience in financial accounting and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks or a similar accounting platform.
  • Excellent Excel skills, including PivotTables and advanced formulas.
  • Experience improving accounting processes and using technology or automation to increase efficiency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exposure to U.S. regulatory or audit requirements is an advantage.
  • Highly proactive, resourceful, analytical, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently, solve unfamiliar problems, and deliver with minimal supervision.
